January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. World wide it is estimated that over 40 million people are held as slaves – women and girls, men and boys – through sex and labor trafficking practice.
As part of the month’s activities nationwide, National Human Trafficking Awareness Day the Baraga County Sheriff’s Office is wearing blue, recognizing January 11th as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. The Wear Blue Day campaign is sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
